When I finish a multi day walk and can say that I'd gladly do it again, then I know that the walk has been worth it and very enjoyable. I've done walks where I've been glad to finish and get home and have no intention of doing the walk again but The Tour du Mont Blanc was the most fantastic walk that I have ever done so far and I would jump at the chance to do it again if I ever had the time to do so, but I'd like to try other walks.

As I traveled to France, I was naturally a bit apprehensive about the TMB and walking in another country, or three other countries if we're being exact as I'd never walked outside of the UK. I only knew a little French and no Italian so I was a bit worried although I now know that everywhere I stayed on the TMB or the shops or transport, they all spoke good English.

I must admit there were a couple of evenings where I felt a bit out of place and alone, sitting at the table at dinner and no one speaking English but everyone I met on the TMB was nice and I would see the same people most days as most people had the same schedule as myself and got to know some of them better along the way.

If you have ever thought about doing this walk, either on your own or in a group I would strongly recommend that you do. It might have been the most strenuous walk I've ever done but the rewards were well worth the sweat and effort. I took advantage of the good weather to do the higher altitude variant routes where possible, again the views were worth it.

Out of the ten days that I walked, only the last wet miserable day was a bit of a disappointment, the rest were fabulous apart from the scary storm I encountered for a while on the Italy/Switzerland border. The views were incredible and the whole experience was better than I could have expected and is one that I'll never forget and I will always have a smile and my memories when I think of my Tour du Mont Blanc walk.
